When You’re No One’s Favorite Person

It feels very much like isolating in a snowy cabin in the woods.

No one is coming for you.
No one is checking on you.

The hot cocoa is made for one,
topped with as many marshmallows
as you damn please.
You are responsible for making sure the fire
keeps you warm, while your internal fire feels like embers waiting to be reignited.

To be no one’s favorite person doesn’t mean you are unlovable.
You are choosing to love yourself
every day instead.
Pick yourself when no one else is ready to.
The snow will clear and you’ll see a new path in front of you.

Choose it.

Forge ahead with that fire in your belly
and the sweetness of your love
as an offering
to those you deem worthy
enough to allow a taste.
